Happiness: Pops of Yellow + A Really Good Smoky Scotch Cocktail

by Nina Myers McCammon

We made it to the summer kickoff! Below are some shots from the week that all have one thing in common: a pop of yellow, AKA the most cheerful color. It even makes an appearance in a cocktail. Thank goodness for lemons.

This smoky scotch cocktail is inspired by a cocktail my brother-in-law Zadri made for us. He works at Nopa in San Francisco, a restaurant that specializes in organic, wood-fired cuisine. The recipe was recently published in Esquire Weekly:

Take a glass, pour in a little smoky Scotch, such as Ardbeg, Laiphroiag or Lagavulin, swirl it around and pour most of the Scotch back into the bottle, leaving about a thimbleful, then make a gin martini (recipe here) as normal.

Few more photos from the week, including, from top-to-bottom: Industrial bins at Brimfield, wooden tags from The Great Lakes (as seen at the National Stationery Show), little flowers in the yard, and Rifle Paper Co. Phone cases (also seen at NSS).
