I'm sorry for being a bit out of the loop the last couple of days. We had family visiting from California, so we did what we always do which is watch Theo run circles around us, crack up, eat, and work on the house (worth mentioning: they're patient). The painters were here last week and they finished the exterior of the house, fence, front door, and deck. It's feeling fresh! We went with Benjamin Moore Amherst Gray for the house and Poppy for the door (above), which is as cheerful a color as it sounds. I'll post more pics soon, but here's a sneak peek of the door and fence (below). One day I'll share before/after pics with you, because it's hard to explain how insane our house looked prior to the new paint job.
Oh! And we discovered an authentic roadside Texas BBQ joint off Route 9 in Cold Spring, New York. For any skeptics out there, even my Texan husband even approved, which was admittedly kind of shocking. There are benches inside, but it's much more fun to sit under the tent and sometimes, there's even live music, which we were lucky enough to catch on Father's Day. Highlights: brisket, cole slaw, and fried okra. Yum.
Another local gem from the weekend: a trip to Hilltop Nursery in Montrose, NY. It's a bit on the pricy side, but their selection of flowers and ornamental trees are gorgeous and they even sell smally gifty items inside. I was so taken with the pink foxglove below, but instead left with two large white buckets of wedding gown hydrangeas (yes, that's really their name). One is pictured above next to the door, courtesy of Ross's step-mom.
More to come this week, including a mini travel guide coming to you from Jackson Hole, Wyoming! Have a great day, guys.
