Two new "Made in PA" beauties to share with you from the @50statesofstyle feed (and my home!) this week: This gold-leaf dipped porcelain feather by Amy of Red Raven Studios that I treated myself to when I was visiting Emily Blistein's lovely shop Clementine in Middlebury, VT last week—a souvenir of sorts, even though the feather is made in Pittsburgh where Amy lives. I feel so much more connected to a piece when I know who made it and learn the story behind it, for example, Amy personally collected the feather above on a walk in the woods last fall. It's technically an ornament, but too pretty put up one month a year on Christmas so I'll probably hang it somewhere year-round!
This open-face stained glass terrarium is by Philadelphia-based artist Ashley Bram-Johnson of ABJ Glassworks, I've had my eye on it for months because I love the fact that it has a flat back and suede loop so it can hang from the wall. Of course I have zero experience dealing with terrariums so this should be interesting. I'll share another pic once I actually have something growing (or at least potentially growing). The kit includes the terrarium and a muslin pouch with pebbles, activated charcoal and a few cute suggestions for how to get your terrarium started, one of which is to go on a hunt for moss in your backyard, whether or not you live in nature. Apparently, moss can grow anywhere, even in an urban jungle!
